A Karen In The Wild

I was at a diagnostic place today for a 6-month thyroid TSH test. I have hypothyroidism, treated with levothyroxine. I also pee a lot, and after a 10-minute wait in the waiting room, I knocked on the door and asked the nurse, who answered rather quickly, if I could use the restroom. I was told. “In a few minutes.” And did fine waiting the time out. But I was a little relieved (no pun intended) when a short time later, I spotted a lady coming out and quickly approached the open door to call back to the nurse about using the restroom now.

Alarmingly, I was met with a loud, obnoxious. “Sir!” “You can’t go back there.” “Sir! Sir!!” “You can’t go back there!” This was in my ear while she was trying to pull the door closed in my face. I had simply put my hand on it to stop it from happening. She then walked away and turned to say I assaulted her. And asked someone in the waiting area if they saw it. The lone young man sitting there smiled, and replied.”No.”

Although funny to me. I immediately defended myself by responding that I didn’t assault her. And as she finally walked out the door. I laughed to myself as I thought that this was a real-life Karen I had just encountered. I told the young man about my thoughts and he laughed out loud.

Boy, when you see one in the wild and not recorded. It is something else.
